The classics of English and French feminist thought from three different periods: 1790-1810; 1860-1880; 1920-1950. The major feminist works of Mary Wollstonecraft, John Stuart Mill, Virginia Wolfe and Simone de Beauvoir read alongside other relevant literary and philosophical texts: Wollstonecraft, for example, read with Descartes, Rousseau, Hegel and Madame de Stael. One course.
