Gender and the Law

Examination of issues at the intersection of gender and law through a number of different theoretical lenses. Analyzes policy problems with gender implications from the perspective of formal equality, substantive equality, nonsubordination theory, different voice theory, autonomy, and various poststructural critiques. Engages theory at the level of concrete, easily accessible ethical and policy issues, including such topics as employment equality, pregnancy, domestic violence, rape, reproductive rights, sexual orientation and sexual identity discrimination, family equality, sexual harassment, pornography, education equality, affirmative action, and the justice system. One course.
