This website provides information on placement to current Literature Program graduate students and recent PhDs. Please click on the appropriate menu item for guidelines on preparing job materials, anticipating interviews and campus visits, as well as sample job application letters. These materials are intended to complement the informational placement meeting held in the spring and the workshop in the fall, as well as individual consultation with advisors and committee members.

APPLY FOR VISITING SCHOLAR STATUS
The Duke Literature Program offers its graduates the courtesy position of Visiting Scholar to facilitate the transition from doctoral work to secure employment. The position is not funded and is automatically renewable for up to three years. Only Duke Literature PhDs may apply. To do so, complete this form and return to the Assistant to the Director of Graduate Studies.
