Performance Studies

Performance Studies is an interdisciplinary field that borrows from theater studies, anthropology, philosophy, sociology, art history, cultural studies, and ethnic studies. The course provides a critical survey of Performance Studies as an academic field with emphasis on interdisciplinary theories and methodologies. Students will study a broad range of performances and read key theorists in the field, including Erving Goffman, Victor Turner, J. L. Austin, Judith Butler, E. Patrick Johnson, Richard Schechner, Dwight Conquergood, Peggy Phelan, Diana Taylor, and José Muñoz. Instructor: Lee, Gobert
