Found footage filmmaking, cinematic appropriation, the use of archival materials in documentaries, and current day internet mashups. Covering early cinema, experimental and documentary cinema, television, and the internet. Key emphasis on practice based assignments with a concurrent focus on the historical impact of the field from seminal moments to the contemporary moment through films and readings on the subject.
